What is Ferritic Nitrocarburizing?

The process is very similar to Plasma Ion Nitriding, except that in addition to Nitrogen, Hydrogen and additions of other gases containing carbon are used; Both Nitrogen and Carbon diffuse into the surface of the parts. The process temperature is also a little higher than Plasma Ion Nitriding. This method of case hardening is generally used on parts with less carbon than alloyed steels.
